parent/teacher conference

Dakota had Kindergarten screening done last Friday, which was put on by Parents as Teachers. They tested him for around an hour, and his scores were pretty low. Overall, compared with other kids his age, he was in the 12 percentile. They are not sure how his vision is, I guess he freaked out when they went to do a vision test on him so they think that we need to take him to an eye doctor. We had a parent/teacher conference yesterday with his teacher. She said that she was disappointed in his scores, and knows that he can do better. Sometimes he just chooses not to try. Like, he is always coming up with excuses not to try writing his name (he does NOT like to write). He told his teacher the other day that he thinks that it is just too late for him to learn to write his name. Anyway, she wants Dakota re-tested - and she also thinks that Dakota need to go to summer school. And since the parent/teacher conference was supposed to be just a short 20 minute thing - we brought the kids with us instead of trying to find a babysitter. The kids can play with the toys in the classroom while the parents talk. Keep in mind, that Mikayla has been having major constipation troubles for the past several months. We have been trying everything and often have to give her suppositories for her to go. Well, we didn't even bring the diaper bag in or anything. Of all the 20 minutes there are in a day (or even a week cuz sometimes she only goes once a week) - she decides to poop during the conference. And it wasn't just regular poop - she had bad diarrhea. She stunk up that whole classroom. Seriously, I thought that either the teacher or John was farting because the kids were over a ways playing. I felt sorry for the teacher that had to stay in there - and the next set of parents that came in while we were leaving!
